Police have attended an address in South Staffordshire to speak with, and support, an elderly person who has been the victim of fraud. The IP had been on their driveway when approached by a young male who claimed there were urgent roof repairs needed. The IP then paid the so called roofer nearly £6,000 to have the repairs completed. The men were on the roof for approximately 15 minutes. This is just to remind you to never engage with cold callers at your property or on the phone. Also, beware of leaflets posted at your property, offering services such as gutter clearing, roofing, block paving cleaning and gardening. Always ask friends and family for recommendations or do some research into a company first. Please do pass this message on to friends, neighbours and family to help us to get the advice out there and help tackle these fraudsters who cause so much upset. |
